The Changing Lives Initiative is a community-based project creating a better understanding about ADHD and providing an intervention programme for families with children (3-7) experiencing behaviours consistent with ADHD.
The Initiative is a cross border project operating in County Louth, West Belfast and the Argyll & Bute Region. The project is supported by the European Union’s INTERREG VA Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
Since officially launching in November 2017 the Changing Lives Initiative has been making significant progress. The project is working with families, schools and communities in raising awareness of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). To date, the project has provided an intervention to over 850 families who were concerned about their child’s/ children’s behaviour, including the delivery of 23 intensive group based programmes for parents. The project has also provided training to over 1,100 professionals working with and supporting children with ADHD.
Fantastic new App on ADHD for families
The Changing Lives Initiative have launched an innovative App on ADHD to support families. The App helps families understand what ADHD is and provides practical strategies and tools for parents to use with their children. The App is particularly relevant for parents who have concerns about their child’s behaviour but are not yet sure if their child may have ADHD.
The App is also extremely useful for those working with children, in helping them understand ADHD and how they might support children who have issues with inattention, hyperactivity or impulsivity.
